AURORA AUSTRALIS ANTHROPOSOPHICAL COLLEGE OF THE ARTS

INVITES APPLICANTS FOR
2013

Aurora Australis, the Melbourne Eurythmy School, is an Anthroposophical College, (founded by Birgith Lugosi in 1990), based on the understanding of the human being as given by Rudolf Steiner.

The Anthroposophical Arts are a path of development through which we can explore the inter-relationships between natural science, spiritual science and the different art forms.

ONE YEAR ORIENTATION COURSE

This course is for everyone. You will learn about the esoteric aspect of life and relationships and reorient yourselves through the arts and spiritual science. The curriculum includes:

·     Anthroposophy [A path of knowledge, to guide the spiritual in the human being to the spiritual in the universe.]

·     Cosmology [Explores the exciting relationship between the macrocosm and the microcosm.]

·     Eurythmy [In Eurythmy you will learn to move sounds, tones and intervals. You will meet with the spiritual background of language and music.]

·     Painting [Through the medium of water-colour you meet challenges which will help you to understand the dynamics of your soul.]

·     Music Theory [Spiritual musicology brings you to the understanding of the music of the spheres.]

·     Clay-modeling [The process of this converts archetypal movements into forms.]

EURYTHMY AS A CAREER — FOUR YEAR DIPLOMA TRAINING

This course will provide a full foundation of Eurythmy with a diploma, internationally recognised by the “Section for Speech, Eurythmy and Music” in Dornach, Switzerland. Beside the main topic (Eurythmy) the curriculum includes:

Study of music, Anthroposophy, Art history, Form Drawing, Painting, Sculpting (clay-modeling), Introduction in Educational Eurythmy and Steiner Education, Anthroposophical Medicine, Speech formation, English literature.

The graduates also can continue with further training, such as Pedagogical Eurythmy, Eurythmy as Performing Art, or Curative Eurythmy.

The Firm and Gentle Art of Loving our Children

Developing Mindfulness and Companionship in Parenting by John Allison

Revised and edited transcript of a Gabriel Talk given at Kew Library, Melbourne May 2012

For Bettye

Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting:

The Soul that rises with us, our life’ʹs Star,

Hath had elsewhere its setting,

And cometh from afar:

Not in entire forgetfulness,

And not in utter nakedness,

But trailing clouds of glory do we come

From God, who is our home:

Heaven lies about us in our infancy!

Shades of the prison-°©‐‑house begin to close

Upon the growing Boy,

But He beholds the light, and whence it flows,

He sees it in his joy;

The Youth, who daily farther from the east

Must travel, still is Nature’ʹs Priest,

And by the vision splendid

Is on his way attended;

At length the Man perceives it die away,

And fade into the light of common day.

~

In beginning with these words by William Wordsworth, from his great Ode: Intimations of Immortality, I’m mindful of our theme for tonight — for these lines speak evocatively of four stages of development, those of infant, child, youth, and adulthood, as a progression, a process in time leading into this world from another. As presented in this poem, it seems a tragic journey, from light into darkness, and to some extent that is true for each of us…
